With only a high school education, Antonio decided to travel from Chicago, Illinois to the state of Washington. There, he found work with the Rios de la Region corporation at their restaurant chain, Las Margaritas. Working his way through the various positions of the restaurant, he finally made his way up to line cook where he developed an affinity for the culinary aspect of the restaurant business. His newly enkindled passion led to him eventually becoming head chef and later General Chef of the chain. He broke free from the chain and in 1995 opened his first, in a series of , Mi Mexico restaurants in the state of Washington, eventually spreading to Colorado and Iowa. In 2008, he opened his most recent Mi Mexico location, here in Buffalo Grove, IL.
Mi Mexico is located at the historic "Old House" at 220 Milwaukee Ave. in annexed Buffalo Grove, IL (formerly Wheeling), right next to the Chevy Chase Country Club. The parking lot can be entered from either Riverwalk Dr/Columbus Pkwy or from Prague Ave.
"Visited this restaurant with entire family. Margaritas - superb beer selection: great, mostly mexican beers, including drafts Shrimp burrito was very tasty. Musicians were singing Spanish songs making superb accords - really professional guacamoles served. My kids vere happy, my mother-in-law liked margaritas, everybody was happy!"

"Fantastic food! The portions are good for the value. Adding a pork tamale to any meal is a must. They are authentically wrapped in a corn husk and taste incredible. I have never had a bad meal here.
